Welcome Fondazione Altagamma to a CAFT campaign! How much longer will you support Capasa and the CNMI’s allowance of fur? Take a cue from Visa, Lutech, DHL, and the rest who decided it was simply not worth it.

Milan Fashion Week still will not ban fur. In May 2026 the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI) announced that from the September 2026 edition it would “invite” its brands not to show fur – an invitation, not a rule, with nothing behind it if a brand ignores it. We said at the time that a recommendation is not enough. It still isn’t.

Not when animals are still trapped in cages and bred into a life of misery for luxury fashion. The same world-recognized luxury fashion that is at the center of Milan Fashion Week. It’s time for a formal fur ban.

But FIRST: If you’re in Italy or Europe, join us on 26 September for the largest anti-fur march Milan has ever seen. The March to End Fur at Milan Fashion Week is happening DURING the runway shows. We’re showing up with hundreds (if not thousands) of people during the busiest time in Milan for fashion with one demand: END FUR!

Register to attend the march here.

NEW CAMPAIGN FOR MILAN FASHION WEEK

Because of CNMI’s inaction, we’re calling out those who can make the CNMI and Carlo Capasa make some moves.

Welcome Fondazione Altagamma to the campaign. Altagamma is an association of Italian luxury, 156 member companies across fashion, design, hospitality, food, and automotive, founded in 1992 to sell “Italian excellence” to the world. It represents the most prestigious & influential companies in their field. We hope they’re ready to meet CAFT.

Altagamma has said nothing about fur because president of the CNMI, Carlo Capasa, sits on the board – effectively putting a muzzle on the association with his ties to the fur industry. That is about to change.

Beginning September 22nd – 28th we are calling on the international animal rights movement to set their sights on Altagamma and its associates. With an institution this well connected, going at them head-on will not be enough. So we are protesting the companies whose own executives sit on Altagamma’s board. Every company below has a board member or officer of Altagamma running it. They are not bystanders, they are the board.

Our demand of Altagamma and its board members is simple. Use your seat. Demand that Altagamma call for a publicly binding, enforceable fur ban at Milan Fashion Week. If Carlo Capasa refuses, then he needs to be removed from the board of Altagamma for bringing shame to Italian fashion, by being one of the few allies the fur industry has left.

INTERNATIONAL WEEK OF ACTION: 22–28 SEPTEMBER 2026

Milan Fashion Week Women’s the Spring/Summer 2027 collections runs Tuesday 22 September to Monday 28 September 2026. CAFT will be in Milan all 7 days naming and shaming the CNMI and their associates at Altagamma. But we will not stop at the borders of luxury fashion’s most shameful country, CAFT is calling for international pressure on Carlo Capasa’s biggest enabler: Altagamma.

If you are in Italy: get in contact with CAFT organizers on the ground. We will be marching against Milan Fashion Week on 26 September. The meetup is at Piazza Cordusio at 14:30PM: Register here!

If you really can’t make it to Milan: That’s okay. Most of Capasa’s enablers have locations in your city.

If you cannot get out at all: call and email. Every number and address is below.

ALTAGAMMA ITSELF

**Fondazione Altagamma** — Via Montenapoleone 9, 20121 Milano, Italy

Via Montenapoleone is the most expensive shopping street in Italy, and Altagamma’s office sits in the middle of it. During the week of action we will be outside.

TOGETHER WE WILL DEFEAT THE FUR INDUSTRY

Milan Fashion Week has already lost five corporate sponsors to this campaign: DHL, Wella, Visa, Acqua Fiuggi, and Lutech Group. Every one of them decided their name and sanity was worth more than their association with fur.

Altagamma’s board should be asking themselves the same question.

For activists: If you are not already plugged into our network, get in contact with us at [email protected] and we will make sure you have what you need to take action against Milan Fashion Week from September 22nd – 28th. You can also do it DIY & download posters here!

For companies & whistleblowers: if you’re eager to get out of the crosshairs of this campaign, you can contact CAFT at [email protected].

See you on the streets!
