What do a haircare company and a shipping company have to do with the fur industry? Well, as proud sponsors of Milan Fashion Week, Wella, a haircare product company, and DHL, the shipping company, are condoning the caging, anal electrocution, and gassing of baby animals.

All this needless suffering of wildlife happens so that designers on the runway of Milan Fashion Week can send models down the runway wearing the fur of tortured animals and call it a trend! As you know, CAFT just launched an international pressure campaign against Milan Fashion Week (MFW) and Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI) last week. That means that anyone and anything associated with MFW is going to be hearing from us unless MFW does the right thing and DROPS FUR, just like New York and London Fashion Weeks have done.

If Wella and DHL truly care about sustainability and corporate social responsibility, as they both claim to do on their websites, then they would recognize that sponsoring an event like Milan Fashion Week is antithetical to their so-called values. Fur is one of the most polluting textiles in the fashion industry. Its production causes widespread environmental destruction, from the enormous waste generated by confining millions of wild animals on farms, to the vast amounts of water, land, and resources required to feed carnivorous species. On top of this, fur pelts are treated with highly toxic chemicals to prevent decomposition, rendering them non-biodegradable. When combined with the extreme cruelty involved in killing animals for their skins, it becomes clear that there is absolutely nothing sustainable about the fur industry.

Both of these companies are headquartered in Europe, where a major proposal is being considered by legislators to ban fur farming and imports. This clearly signifies that the majority of the public is against the cruel, disgusting fur trade. So why does CNMI insist on keeping it on the runways of Milan Fashion Week? To placate the animal abusers at LVMH who are on the board of CNMI? We don’t accept this! Either evolve with the rest of the fashion industry and society, or face the consequences of a protest campaign. The anti-fur movement has now set its sights on Wella and DHL with the demand: CUT TIES WITH MILAN FASHION WEEK AND THE CRUEL FUR INDUSTRY.

These are great targets with a lot of offices and locations throughout Europe, North America, and Asia — in key areas where anti-fur groups are activated! So, you know what to do: grab some signs and leaflets, and pay these MFW sponsors a visit and let them and their customers know exactly what they’re sponsoring at MFW: the bloody fur trade!

In the meantime, send Wella and DHL an email and give them a call to let them know what you think about the fur industry and their sponsor, Milan Fashion Week, continuing to normalize such a vulgar practice.
