CAFT is launching a new campaign targeting one of the most influential platforms in the fashion world: New York Fashion Week (NYFW). This marks an exciting new direction for us, building on the success of our previous campaign targeting Vogue and Condé Nast, which showed the power of holding industry leaders accountable and making waves throughout the fashion world.

Our mission at CAFT is unwavering: to bring an end to the fur industry. That means challenging the systems that allow fur to be promoted in magazines, showcased on runways, and included in designer collections. Animals should never be gassed, electrocuted, have their necks broken, or be skinned alive for a garment marketed as “luxury.” Their lives are worth infinitely more. We will continue to fight until the fashion world reflects that truth. We call on NYFW to take a stand and end its support for this cruel and outdated industry once and for all.

What is NYFW? It is one of the most iconic fashion events in the world, happening twice a year in NYC to showcase designers’ collections for the upcoming season. It’s held every February and September and is packed with runway shows, presentations, celebrities, and exclusive events. Part of the “Big Four” fashion weeks alongside Paris, Milan, and London, NYFW is a global stage where both big names and up-and-coming designers show off their latest work. It’s where trends are born, and it helps set the tone for fashion worldwide.

London Fashion Week is already fur-free, and we believe it’s time for New York Fashion Week (NYFW) to follow suit. While our ongoing efforts remain focused on Berluti and LVMH, expanding our campaigning to NYFW marks an important step toward making the fashion world an inhospitable place for any brand or designer that continues to align with the cruel and outdated fur industry.

So, who holds the power at NYFW? The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) is the organization that runs and oversees the official fashion calendar. Like the British Fashion Council, which implemented a fur-free policy for London Fashion Week, the CFDA has the authority to do the same for New York. This campaign will center on persuading the CFDA to take that step and publicly adopt a fur-free policy.

Of course, NYFW involves many key players. Production agencies such as William Morris Endeavor (WME) and IMG, which help produce the shows and secure brand partnerships, also play a significant role—and they’ll be hearing from us, too.

If you’d like to get involved, we’d love your support. Reach out to us and stay tuned for updates on how you can help make NYFW fur-free.
