THE FIRST LVMH-OWNED FASHION BRAND TO GO FUR-FREE
New York, April 9, 2024 — In a groundbreaking move, Celine, the iconic French fashion house, is now officially fur-free based on a policy published via press release and reaffirmed in social media postings. This decision marks a shift in the luxury fashion industry, as Celine becomes the first brand under LVMH ownership to enact a fur-free policy.
Under creative direction of Hedi Slimane, Celine has chosen to prioritize ethics by eliminating animal fur from its collections, Celine sets a new standard for responsible luxury fashion.
“Celine’s commitment to a fur-free future is a step in the right direction for LVMH and we hope to see other brands follow their lead,” states Matthew Klein with the Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade (CAFT USA).
Out of the 14 fashion houses under LVMH they are only one of 2 that are fur-free. The other is environmentalist Stella McCartney who already had a fur-free policy when they were acquired by LVMH in 2019.
Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade (CAFT USA) – exists to forever end the killing of wildlife for their fur.
