CAFT Announces Victory in Campaign Targeting Rick Owens and Owenscorp
New York, NY – Monday, December 15, 2025 – After a five-day protest campaign, the Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade (CAFT) announced a major victory: Rick Owens and Owenscorp have committed to not using fur in any future collections. The brand’s online store has also removed the mink and beaver fur handbags it had been selling.
The fur-free policy was confirmed in an email sent to CAFT by Owenscorp’s Corporate Social Responsibility team, and a new statement was added to the company’s “Eco Aware” section, which reads: “OVER THE PAST DECADE, WE REDUCED AND EVENTUALLY CEASED THE PRODUCTION OF FUR. WE WILL NOT ENGAGE IN FUR PRODUCTION IN THE FUTURE.”

This new commitment follows CAFT’s campaign launch on Dec. 10, 2025, and subsequent protests in London, Los Angeles, and New York City—the latter of which involved activists confronting Owenscorp CEO Daniela Soto Beltran. CAFT supporters also confronted Rick Owens’ longtime collaborator, designer, and model Tyrone Dylan at the Air France Lounge in LAX as he awaited his flight to Paris.
“Fashion leaders can either evolve or fall behind,” said Suzie Stork, Executive Director of CAFT “Rick Owens chose to evolve. We expect others who still profit from the cruel fur trade to take notice.”

“The industry is changing because activists are forcing it to change,” added Stork. “When powerful designers and institutions like Condé Nast, New York Fashion Week, and now Rick Owens go fur-free, it exposes just how out of step the remaining holdouts are.”
This milestone adds to CAFT’s long history of hard-hitting, decentralized campaigns targeting some of the most influential names in fashion including Condé Nast, New York Fashion Week, and Marc Jacobs.
