Dear Max Mara Fashion Group,

The fur industry is one of the most violent on the planet. Right now, foxes are shaking in the backs of wire cages, waiting for a fur farmer to pull them out for the very first time so that they can be anally electrocuted. When their corpses are turned into fabric, the resulting clothing serves the sole purpose of conspicuous consumption by the wealthy.

The issues we take with fur extend further to environmental degradation. Fur is the most resource-intensive textile in existence. Nearly every major retailer in the world has committed to a fur-free policy as a basic element of their sustainability programs.

Max Mara Fashion Group is one of the last designers in the world that has not enacted an official fur-free policy. However, we have noticed that you removed fur from all of your websites, including those in Japan and Korea. While we applaud this move, we are forced to remind you that simply removing fur from your websites is not sufficient. Time and time again, brands remove fur in this manner only to bring it back when they see an opportunity. Indeed, there is no other reason to remove fur without making a fur-free commitment.

This campaign will continue until we can confirm that Max Mara Fashion Group and all of your subsidiaries have a strict fur-free policy – no exception. You can expedite this process by emailing your fur-free policy to [email protected].

We prefer cooperation over confrontation.  The choice, however, is yours.
