Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade had one of our best years yet in 2024. This was accomplished though a decentralized network of grassroots activists taking a stand on the streets against one of the world’s most violent industries: the fur trade.
The first win of the year was against Marc Jacobs International, a high-end fashion house owned by the largest luxury company in the world: LVMH. The Marc Jacobs campaign will always hold a special place in our hearts because when CAFT first started, it was our goal to get every major American designer to stop selling fur. We quickly realized that we could do so much more than that and branched out to do international campaigns as well. But with Marc Jacobs – arguably the most influential contemporary American designer – going fur-free, we have nearly accomplished our early goals as an organization in just 4 years. This campaign proved that a small group of individuals can make the change that highly-funded corporate animal rights groups have failed to make for over a decade. The Marc Jacobs campaign came to an end after a two year battle that concluded when Marc Jacobs declared an international fur-free policy. The statement gained worldwide attention.
Marc Jacobs has an estimated annual revenue of 704 million dollars.
The second win was against one of the longest-standing anti-fur campaigns dating back to 2008. This one, also is near and dear to our hearts because three members of CAFT got their anti-fur activism kicked off with the original Max Mara campaigns. The family-owned Italian fashion house Max Mara Fashion Group have been notoriously resistant to animal rights activists, yet they caved to pressure from CAFT when activists started showing up at the homes of Max Mara employees.
Max Mara Fashion Group has an estimated annual revenue of 1.4 billion dollars.
The third win was against CH Carolina Herrera. This campaign lasted a mere two weeks after international pressure.
Carolina Herrera has an estimated annual revenue of 742 million dollars.
The fourth win of the year was against Alexander Wang. After a two week campaign, Alexander Wang committed to never again sell the fur of wildlife.
Alexander Wang has an estimated revenue of 200 million dollars.
The fifth win of the year was against luxury fashion brand Anne Fontaine. They declared a fur-free policy, following a focused 22 day campaign and dozens of protests led by activist groups around the world.
Anne Fontaine has an estimated revenue of 25 million dollars.
Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade USA would like to thank every activist that stood on the streets to give the wildlife on fur farms a voice. We are up against the biggest companies, on the planet, yet they have been caving to pressure because of the focus and determination of activists like you. The corporations we fight against have deep pockets, but all of the money in the world will not be able to stop a grassroots movement that is focused on fur and working together.
Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade has an estimated revenue of 1,228 dollars.
If you would like to help CAFT in 2025, there are a few things that you can do:
- Organize protests and keep the focus on fur. This is the best thing you can do for CAFT. We are a decentralized group with no staff. Without activists like you on the streets, CAFT is nothing more than a good idea. Most of the people in this group do not have many financial resources; keep the little you have and invest it in your local communities.
- Get involved with the community off traditional social media platforms. Join our Discord and Matrix chats and find like-minded people who want to be part of putting the first animal exploitation industry out of a job. With your help, we hope to see the executives at the International Fur Federation out of a job.
- DONATE! CAFT USA may pride ourselves on getting more work done than the big non-profits on a laughable budget, but that tiny budget does not make it easy for us. CAFT exists because the core voluntees have sacrificed financial conveniences and even basic necessities to continue this project. If we are going to have a thriving grassroots movement, we need to find a way to be financially sustainable. If you are in the demographic that has some money to spare, we will make every penny count.
You can donate to our Patreon monthly or make a one-time donation on Venmo to help us keep this project alive though 2025 and beyond.
