Hi Friends,
We know it’s been a while since we last sent out a newsletter, but we’ve been busy!
Thank you to everyone that has been hitting the streets these past several months, defending wildlife and taking a stand against the heartless corporate entities that keep prioritizing profit at the expense of the lives of millions of fur-bearing animals.
Recent Campaign Wins:
June 6, 2024:Marc Jacobs, LVMH subsidiary, concedes defeat after a grueling two-year campaign that saw six activist arrests and a strategic escalation in the final months. Damage to the Marc Jacobs headquarters and consistent demonstrations at the homes of employees convinced this influential company to finally give up fur.
August 5, 2024: Max Mara goes fur-free after a year and half long global campaign. Home demonstrations in the United States and relentless protests from our European comrades on Max Mara’s home turf convinced this multi-mullion dollar luxury conglomerate what we already knew: the anti-fur movement doesn’t back down and we always win.
August 27, 2024: Anne Fontaine goes fur-free after a 22 day campaign. The French company, Anne Fontaine, decided that profiting off the slaughtered bodies of rabbits was no longer worth it after facing an intense protest campaign that spanned two continents!
September 26, 2024: Puig, a billion dollar Spanish conglomerate, announces an official fur-free policy extending it to its licensed brand, CH Carolina Herrera. Less than two weeks after CAFT initiated a global campaign against Puig and CH Carolina Herrera, the company decided they couldn’t take the heat.
October 9, 2024: Chicago Fashion Week goes fur free! Thanks to team at arcXchicago, all future runways at Chicago Fashion Week will exclude fur items. This creative campaign was won without a single protest—just a few emails was all it took.
November 2, 2024: Alexander Wang goes fur free after being caught violating the CA fur ban! With only a handful of global stores with accessibility to be regularly protested, we got creative! After disruptive protests and online actions, Spanish activists convinced luxury retailer, Ekseption, to stop selling Alexander Wang’s merchandise. After a mere nine day campaign, the prominent and influential designer agreed to an official fur-free policy and pulled the grotesque rabbit fur sandals off the shelves and offline.
Because of you, we’ve had these exciting wins, further driving that final nail into the fur industry’s coffin. We have learned valuable lessons along the way, strengthened our understanding of effective strategies and tactics, and unified our community—for the animals!
But before you think it’s time to rest, think again. Our work is far from done, and now is not the time to sit back and relax. As we write this, defenseless animals sit in tiny, cramped cages on fur farms waiting to be gassed, electrocuted, or beaten to death as pelting season draws near. All so that immoral corporations like LVMH can pass off dead animal skins as luxury items and sell it to the masses and rich idiots who wear fur. But we refuse to let this happen without a fight…
Fur Free Friday on November 29th is fast approaching and we need ALL boots on the ground from New York City to California and every state in between to raise their voices and make it clear that fur has no place in our society! So, what is Fur Free Friday? It’s an annual animal rights tradition! Fur Free Friday falls on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, and one of the busiest shopping days of the year. It is a day that epitomizes consumerism and corporate greed, driving people toward over consumption while deepening the exploitation of both animals and humans. So naturally, animal rights activists have chosen this day to disrupt!
So, what can YOU do? Grab a megaphone, signs, leaflets, and a couple friends and hit the streets to educate the public about fur. Read more about it here and reach out to us if you need help getting a Fur Free Friday event started in your city or town!
