Anne Fontaine Announces Fur-Free Policy After Intense Protest Campaign
Luxury fashion brand Anne Fontaine has officially declared a fur-free policy following a focused 22 day campaign and dozens of protests led by activist groups around the world. This campaign was launched by the Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade (CAFT USA) immediately folowing their successful campaign against Max Mara Fashion Group.
On August 27th, the Paris-based company announced their decision not to include fur in any of their future collections after facing significant pressure from activists worldwide. In an official statement sent to activists, Anne Fontaine confirmed,“In light of of the recent acts perpetrated against our stores and employees by anti-fur protesters, Anne Fontaine wishes to address the situation with transparency and honesty.” they continue by stating – “in response to the recent events and after a period of reflection, we have decided to cease the inclusion of fur in any future Anne Fontaine collections.” CAFT has given Anne Fontaine until January 1, 2026 to clear their inventory of any remaining items containing animal fur.
CAFT issued the following statement in response to Anne Fontaine’s decision:
“Anne Fontaine’s fur-free announcement is a victory for animals, the environment, and consumers who demand more responsible fashion choices. This outcome was achieved through the persistence and dedication of activists around the world who refuse to let companies profit from animal cruelty.”
This victory sends a strong message: Any fashion house that continues to support the fur trade will face a determined and relentless protest campaign. Anne Fontaine’s decision, following closely after those of Max Mara and Marc Jacobs, demonstrates that no company is beyond the reach of activists committed to ending the exploitation of animals for fashion.
