Global Weekend of Action against LVMH and the fur trade – November 29th – December 1st 2024
LVMH
The fur industry has been struggling due to the enormous amount of pressure it has faced over the past four years – but the job is far from over because even the biggest brands, such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Loro Piana, and Fendi, still proudly stock clothing made from the bodies of fur-bearing animals. Outside their commitment to cruelty, these designers all have one other thing in common: they are owned by LVMH.
LVMH is not your average opponent, they are the worlds largest luxury company, they are comprised of 75 houses and they are ran by one of the richest men on the planet: Bernard Arnault. Many groups these days are giving up on fur because they assume that the industry will just die out… think again. LVMH is heavily invested in fur and as long as they want to have fur on the racks – commercial fur farming will continue.
We do not beat fur – until we beat LVMH.
REGIONAL TARGETS:
Don’t have a LVMH target in your city? Not a problem, we need all boots on the ground to make sure that the fur industry takes their last breath before we let up on the pressure. What does this mean – we need your city to help identify and target the last companies in your town selling fur and we need you and your team to force them out of the fur business. If you need help with this project we are here to help.
GLOBAL ACTIONS ARE VITAL FOR ANIMAL LIBERATION:
One city targeting LVMH on any given weekend may annoy our opponent, but dozens of cities across the globe standing up simultaneously to demand a fur-free policy is enough to bring even the most hardened animal abusers into a state of panic.
THE FALL OF FUR AND FUR-FREE FRIDAY:
November 29th – December 1st is not a random week selected out of a hat, but rather a tribute to the history of Fur-Free Friday and an exploitation of two of the largest shopping days of the year.
The day after Thanksgiving may be known as Black Friday by retailers, but for anti-fur activists it is an opportunity to disrupt business on the busiest shopping day of the year. This is a long standing tradition known as Fur-Free Friday.
With so much at stake, and the fur industry teetering on the edge, one day is not enough. Particularly when the Saturday after Fur-Free Friday is the 7th largest shopping day of the year. This is a weekend the fur industry’s remaining supporters will be put to the test.
